The City of Glenn Heights is proud to announce a partnership with The Make-A-Wish Foundation for the development of an all-abilities park at the Glenn Heights City Center site, currently under
construction. The City Center and Park are scheduled to open in June 2022!
GREAT JOB MR. HALL!!!
Your hard work and dedication to our city is paying off in numerous ways.
With cases increasing, I partnered with Parkland Hospital to bring a vaccination clinic to Glenn Heights. Our first vaccination clinic was a huge success. Thank you to Parkland Hospital and all the volunteers for their assistance.
Continue to visit my website for future Glenn Heights Vaccination Clinics. In the meantime, click here to find clinics throughout the area.
I'm excited to bring my Academic and Citizenship Excellence Award back for the second year. The A.C.E. Award is based on grades and character and it's open to all Glenn Heights Scholars. In order to be considered for an A.C.E. Award, scholars must be enrolled in an accredited public, private, charter, or home school. They must have an 80 average or better and a good attendance record. Nominated scholars are also respectful of others, follow school rules, and demonstrate good character by being honest, helpful, and dependable. A.C.E. scholars will be selected every six weeks.
Have you driven by the City Center recently? It looks great! Construction of the project continues daily. I'm proud to say that this new facility will have a community/recreation center and an indoor walking track.
The City Manager, Mr. David Hall, meets with the contractor weekly to ensure the project is moving forward as scheduled. We anticipate moving in winter/spring 2023. Our city is long overdue for a facility like this.
The Glenn Heights Senior Center is open daily from 9 am – 2 pm and features fun activities for Seniors of all ages.
Membership is free for all Glenn Heights Seniors over 55 and offers programs and events that help keep the mind sharp and the body in motion. Huge shout out to our Fire Department for their quick action in fighting the wildfire that consumed hundreds of acres last month.
I'd also like to thank all the municipalities that offered mutual aid to extinguish the flames, Due to their fast thinking and hard work, there was no loss of life and the only property damage was an old abandoned barn.
Last month, Police Department conducted training with the members of the Citizens Police Advisory Committee (CPAC). Members learned how to properly search and process a crime scene. Detective Weiss instructed the members on the techniques for identifying and processing fingerprint evidence. Each member was given an opportunity to try out the new skills they learned.
The Glenn Heights Police Department works hard to make sure residents and property are safe. It's always great to see them serving the community with a smile and it shows in their core values.
Public Works and Infrastructure provides services that affect the daily lives of all of Glenn Heights' citizens and many visitors. The department strives to provide quality service to our customers and to meet the needs of our citizens, provide safe drinking water, sanitary sewer service, family-friendly parks, and adequate drainage. All of these services ensure a community suited for comfortable living.
